The time has come to acknowledge the true worth of art

In today’s consumer-driven society, we’ve become used to getting everything quickly, cheaply, and instantly. With just a few clicks, we can order any kind of decorative item from a Chinese website, and our homes are flooded with mass-produced goods from all over the world.
But do we ever stop to think — what kind of value are we creating with these choices?

When we buy cheap, industrial mass products, they rarely create lasting value. Not for us, and not for our communities. We don’t know who made them, what their story is, or what their purpose was. We don’t know who profits from them, or under what conditions they were produced.

In contrast, when we purchase from a local gallery or buy a piece from a contemporary artist, we’re not just buying an object — we’re creating value. The gallery owner can use the income to organize new exhibitions, support young artists, or bring creative ideas to life. The artist may use it to support their family, fund future works, or invest in their local environment.

Many still think of art as a “luxury hobby” — that a painting on the wall, a sculpture on a shelf, or a hand-crafted decorative piece is only for the wealthy. But that notion is outdated.

Today, we spend fortunes on smartphones, smartwatches, and designer clothes — all of which have become status symbols.
So why not our homes?
Why shouldn’t a unique artwork say more about us than a logo on a handbag?
Why shouldn’t a thoughtfully chosen picture on our wall matter more than yet another screen in our pocket?

Art is not just beautiful — it has meaning. It gives soul to a space. It connects people. And most importantly, it has impact — on us, our children, our friends, and our daily lives.

It’s time to reassess our relationship with art.
To become more conscious buyers who don’t just purchase disposable objects — but stories, ideas, and visions of the future.

So next time you’re looking for something decorative, ask yourself:
What kind of value do I want to create?
