With great pleasure and in an atmosphere of celebration, the Horváth & Lukács Gallery in Nagycenk inaugurated its 40th anniversary exhibition—an occasion that not only marks a significant milestone but also honours four decades of dedicated artistic craftsmanship and cultural commitment.
In the opening address, the gallery’s director offered an evocative reflection on the companies beginnings:
The gallery was founded in 1985 through the visionary spirit and steadfast dedication of Horváth László and Lukács Ibolya. What once began as a bold cultural endeavour has, over the years, evolved into a respected, creative, and authentically curated art space—one that continues to be valued for its quality, integrity, and distinctive artistic identity.
Particularly moving was the reminder that the gallery’s frames and artworks now reside in countless private homes, offices, and collections—both locally and across the world. These works bring joy, preserve memories, and tell stories, connecting people across borders through the universal language of art.
The address also touched upon the growing importance of art in an increasingly accelerated and technology-driven era. While modern technologies—including artificial intelligence—simplify many of our daily processes, art remains a steadfast intellectual and emotional anchor. The creative space liberated by technological progress allows us to return our attention to values that are deeply human and enduring: sensitivity, expression, and the transformative power of artistic creation.
A significant forward-looking moment of the evening was the introduction of the upcoming anniversary art catalogue, now entering its final phase of graphic preparation. Artists and supporters still have the opportunity to participate in or contribute to this high-quality publication.
Following the welcoming remarks, the exhibition was officially opened by the Munkácsy Award-winning and widely respected painter Péter Baky. The event was gracefully accompanied by a brass ensemble from the J. Haydn School of Music in Fertőd, adding an elegant musical dimension to the celebration.
The anniversary evening offered a refined setting for reflection, appreciation, and inspiration.Guests were then invited to explore the exhibited works at their leisure and to conclude the evening enriched by a variety of artistic impressions.
THE EXHIBITION WILL BE ON VIEW FROM 22 NOVEMBER 2025 TO 30 APRIL 2026 DURING THE REGULAR OPENING HOURS OF THE HORVÁTH & LUKÁCS GALLERY!
